Turn a Popcorn Bag into a Bowl for Mess-Free Munching

There's no need to get your hands all greasy while eating out of a popcorn bag. Just turn the bag into an instant popcorn bowl. This clever hack, posted by Instagram user daniestraub, simply involves cutting out a square on one side of the bag after you take it out of the microwave. It'll save you from having to wash a real bowl too. You could also try this with the paper bag method of making less expensive, healthier microwave popcorn.

Organize Your Garage with This Six-Zone System

The garage is one of those areas that can easily become a cluttered, disorganized mess. To make your garage more usable and maximize storage space, take a look at this organizing system. As all neat freaks know, "a place for everything and everything in its place" is the key to staying organized. This six-zone system suggested by EasyCloset's Inspired Organization blog follows that mantra by setting up distinct zones for different purposes (outdoor gear, bulk storage, etc.). The zones are also ordered according to how often you might need to reach them. The zones are: Transition Zone: Shoes, jackets, bags, and other stuff you grab before leaving the house Need It Now: Everyday stuff like canned food, bulk food items, large packs of paper towels, etc. Long, Tall, Thin Storage: Rakes, shovels, and similar yard stuff to be hung on the walls Large Item Storage: Things like holiday decorations and camping gear that are rarely used Frequently Used Items: Outdoor gear and sports equipment placed near the garage door for easy access Workspace: A workbench and cabinets for your hobby, whether it's gardening or woodworking Of course, these are all just suggestions, and the zones you might need may differ. Still, it's a template you can use to get your garage organized so you can actually find what you need in there when you need it.

Invert Your Phone's Colors to Text in the Dark Without Annoying Others

Most people know using a phone in dark, public places like a movie theater will earn you evil stares from everyone around you. But if you really must, Wired offers this simple trick to make it less annoying. All you have to do is invert the colors on the screen. To do this, look for the Accessibility section in your phone's settings. On the iPhone, set the triple-click setting to "Invert Colors." On Android, select "Inverted Rendering." Then you'll be able to text or email in the dark without drawing everyone else's attention. You might want to do this at night anyway to save your own eyeballs.

The Wall-to-Wall Workspace for Two

Today's featured workspace is a streamlined space that looks perfect for serious studying or work. The long butcher block desk and matching shelving offer ample storage space and desk surface space to accommodate two people. Minimal Desks reader Ryan P. wrote of his Brooklyn workspace: The wall-to-wall desk is made from a butcher-block style kitchen counter with iron pipe. The shelving is also floor-to-ceiling / wall-to-wall and made out of similar materials. Pictured: Retina MacBook Pro, Thunderbolt display, Dyson fan, vintage Singer sewing stools, vintage military ammo crate, Belief NYC skateboard, Vintage stoneware, leather LemonBall If you have a workspace of your own to show off, share them with us by: a) posting it in the discussion below, attaching your image to the post, b) posting it to your personal Kinja blog using the tag featured workspace, or c) adding it to our Lifehacker Workspace Show and Tell Flickr pool. Make sure any photos you include are at least 640x360. Keeping them to 16:9 helps, too! Include a little text about the stuff you used, how you came up with the design, and any other relevant details. If your clever organization and good design sense catches our eye, you might be the next featured workspace.

Welcome to the new Dealhacker! Every day the Commerce Team, which now includes former Weekend Editor Shep McAllister, will be bringing you the best deals on the products, services, and apps we (and you) love. To be clear, we do make money if you buy something through our links. We definitely want your feedback! - Whitson Gordon Hey guys, this is Shep. You might remember me from weekend Lifehacker posts from the last half year or so. I'll be bringing you a new deal roundup every weekday going forward, and I'd love your feedback. On to the deals! Everyone can always use more storage, so 3TB for $100 is a no brainer. This drive from Toshiba is at an all-time low price, is USB 3.0 compatible, and comes with a 3 year warranty. If you're a Seagate fan, Amazon has an identically-specced drive for the same price, but with a 2 year warranty. You can't really go wrong either way, but I'd lean Toshiba for the extra year of support. Update: Unfortunately, the Toshiba is back up to $116, so go check out that Seagate!
